Danish students visit Stansted
Posted: 13th December 2017A group of Danish students have experienced life in and around Stansted.
The 13-year-old girls from Søndervangskolen in Hammel, part of one of Europe’s largest farming estates, spent three days at Forest Hall School.
The exchange students and their teachers stayed with Forest Hall families while they got a taste of life in the UK.
As well as taking part in a regular school day with their Year 7, 8 and 10 peers, the visitors enjoyed traditionally British activities, such as a cream tea, a trip to the London Dungeons and the London Eye and to see the festive lights on Oxford Street.
Sully Sautron, head of modern foreign languages, said: “The Danish students visited Forest Hall to get a feel for what it is like to be a teenager in England. Although their English was very good, it was also an opportunity for them to practise and improve their language skills while with us.”
Forest Hall students and teachers will take part in the two-way exchange to Denmark in spring next year.
Stephen Hehir, executive head, said: “This wonderful trip came about from our desire to see our students develop their love of diversity and challenging themselves each and every day.
“Working with our European neighbours and working with our new friends helps our students to develop their confidence and the desire to join in.
“At Forest Hall, it is so important for our young people to achieve the highest grades, so they can compete on equal terms with other students up and down the country. This exchange programme also develops our students’ softer skills which are just as vital as grades which will help them to outshine others and be successful later in life.”
