For the second year running, Forest Hall School has achieved its best ever GCSE results.

This summer, 65% of students achieved A* to C grades in their GCSE exams in their English and maths – the best in the school’s history.

A total of 64% of students achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths, compared to 60% last year.

The school, in Forest Hall Road, Stansted, became part of the Burnt Mill Co-operative Academy Trust (BMAT) on February 1, 2015 with a mission to boost student numbers and exam results.

Stephen Hehir, head of school since BMAT adopted the school, said: “I am once again thrilled for the students, staff, parents/carers and everyone connected with the Forest Hall School community.

“For me, it is so important that students in every year group have the potential to be successful and these results will allow the class of 2016 the opportunity to continue this success.

“My message to the class of 2016 at Forest Hall School is a big well done for all your hard work.”

 

Star students in Year 11 this year include -

  • Bradley Adams Stock for achieving six A*/A grades (including A* in religious education and As in subjects including mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics)
  • Sarah Keefe for achieving three A grades (including As in maths, geography and biology) and six B grades
  • Ellie Moore for achieving four A grades (including As in English language, maths, religious education and geography) and five B grades.
  • Carl Parsons for achieving eight A*/A grades (including A*s in biology, computing and maths)

 

Success also came to students entered early for GCSE examinations in Year 10 and 9. Students at Forest Hall School complete up to two option GCSEs in Year 9 or 10.

Every student in Year 9 who took GCSE Spanish achieved A* to C grades and 100% of students in Year 10 who took religious education achieved A* to C grades.

Mr Hehir said: “These excellent results in lower year groups at Forest Hall School show the tremendous work ethic all years in the school now have and how achieving the highest grades is the aspiration for all FHS students.”
